It was perfect for sorting out water from noodles, pour water from vegetables, etc.Photo: What to Consider When Choosing the Best Mixing Bowls Otherwise they’re very sturdy, clean easily and well, and otherwise perform as expected. Maybe i’m using them wrong but it seems to me it would be helpful if the little ^ on the edge was curved down instead of up so you could rest it over something like a pot or bowl without it falling into it, especially when rinsing or straining something, or if you aren’t sure you need all of the contents. These items are not meant to be used to hold a couple of pounds of food from when draining a pot full of rice, boiled chicken and vegetables for soup, or bones for broth. This type of tight mesh is designed to clarify broths, or for light duty, such as straining 1-2 servings of pasta. As with any strainer, holding them upside down over a stream of hot water and then laying them flat on a dishwasher rack in a normal cycle gets bits of food out, and gets them clean. The handles are nice and long, and help the strainers lay flat on bowls and pots while pouring liquids into another receptacle. I used the back of a wooden spoon to round out the screens, which worked well, and the items held up under the pressure. The strainers arrived flattened and out-of-shape, which was disappointing. Saw the large one at a store and it cost more than the set of three on amazon. These are nice quality and the three sizes are very handy. The additional sizes come in handy and i hang the set of 3 on one hook in my pantry where they are out of the way. Use the larger one to rinse off my rice before putting it in the rice cooker. Needs improvement aside from this, good product. The big one was about a bit smaller than i thought it would be.Ĭonnection of handle to base is weak. Just be sure to tell the dude m size description, don’t be like me and forget to read it, lol. These are pretty nice, a little on the lightweight side, but they are well made, for the sale price i got then on, it’s a no brainier strainer. Very nice to have the multiple sizes with the end loop on the end to hold their place on the pot brim. Used for straining, sifting and taking out fried food. They’re great for straining pastas, sauces and teas. By then, the return was already initiated via amazon and the replacements arrived two days later. They did reach out soon after and were then provided the additional requested information for their benefit. Attempts to get a replacement direct from cuisinart via their ‘hassle free replacement warranty’ turned out to be way to much of a hassle. They are sturdy, and the pot rest is wide enough stabilize the basket. These are a very nice set of stainless steel strainers, well worth the price. I am using these - particularly the large one (for pasta) and the small one (for cocktails) - quite a lot. The varying sizes helps a lot with different kitchen products. High quality materials, from a quality brand. This product seems like it’ll last forever. They are very well-made and i love how they nest together. Great for baking, straining, soups, and so forth. I’ll probably pass these on to someone with a bigger kitchen, and try to find some that stick to a magnetic strip. I would’ve sent them back only i needed strainers right away. They would work well on hooks, but each strainer would need its own hook because of the way the loops line up. I store them in a jar on the counter, but those long loops catch on other things, and i pull out half the contents of the jar when i just need the strainer. I thought that being ‘stainless steel’ they’d stick to my magnetic knife rack, which is where i keep all my frequently used kitchen items. But they seem well made, and are the sort of product you sometimes don’t know you need until you need ’em. Stainless steel is a must in finding the right strainers for your cooking needs.Īs is obvious from the picture, the strainers don’t nest, so stick out if you hang them on a single hook.
